Spontaneous Germany adventure

My internship in Paris was about to end. My cousin and her husband live in Germany and they invited me to come to Germany before leaving for India. I happily accepted their invitation. I took a train to Saarbrucken. It took almost 2 hours to reach her place. It is a very small city with Saar River running through it. The city has really nice hiking spots. It also offers services that visitors can enjoy while on the trail with a high standard of quality restaurants and accommodation specifically catering for hikers. Do not miss it if you are going to this place as if you do, it will be something that will leave you with a big regret! It has more to offer than just beautiful tracks for hikers. There is also plethora of culture to uncover – from educational museums to ancient ruins, wildlife parks and haunted castles. Also, there is a beautiful bend in the river Saar called Saarschleife. We went to see it in the early morning hours. The view was magnificent with the mist slowly lifting from the forests. For the next day, we had planned a trip to Switzerland. We fuelled up our car and left for Switzerland. Music, talking, eating- we were all enjoying the road trip. Soon we reached Lausanne. We all stopped talking and kept looking out of our windows at the picturesque view. Lausanne has a very beautiful lake- Lake Geneva which augments the beauty of this place. People were fishing and other swimming on a bright Sunny morning. We made a halt at the Chillon castle. It is one of those medieval castles on the banks of Lake Geneva and has foundations from back in Roman times. The castle looks like a fairytale fantasy. It has got phenomenal views that will make you lose track of time. According to the castle website, Chillon castle is listed as "Switzerland's most visited historic monument". From Lucerne we took a special train which is called the Golden Pass Train. We boarded the beautiful and luxurious Golden Pass train covering the scenic Golden pass route which covers most of the Bernese Oberland region in Switzerland. Gazing at the picturesque locations from the train, I fell in love with the route. It was a slow 6 hours journey that ended in Montreux. If you are going to Switzerland and not planning to travel on Golden pass route, you will be missing one of the biggest attraction. My Germany visit was not was not a pre-planned trip, so I had already booked my return tickets to India from Paris. I took a train and went back to Paris. My roommate was also about to leave for her home in Lyon, France. She insisted me to accompany her and stay at her place for 2-3 days as I still had a week left. I could not say no to her and also it was another opportunity for me to explore more of Europe. We both did our final packing and left for her place.
